Space construction

Image
I just read an article about a new materials space launching system called Spin Launch. I love the concept, because it uses inertial spinning you don't have to accelerate at super high speeds.  The required speed increases can be incremental and conserved as momentum until required speeds are achieved.  I wonder if they will try to evacuate the launch area of air to reduce air friction.  The design of the capsule looks like a bullet to reduce air friction.   I could imagine pure metal being shot into space as raw supply to build ships and stations in space.  This would free you from construction requirements of earth.  Can you imagine how liberating it would be to construct in space where gravity isn't trying to destroy your creation every moment? You could create ships and stations that would never need to see atmosphere and so would need no for shapes designed to deal with the friction on earth. I am not sure why this hasn't been looked at befo...
